The roughly 65-mile run crosses high-desert grasslands and pine ridges that most visitors to Arizona never see, and the scenery changes steadily as the train climbs toward the canyon country.
Departing from Williams on Historic Route 66, the train offers a relaxed alternative to driving. Many visitors ride out in the morning, spend hours at the South Rim, and return to the Route 66 town in the evening.
